Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly are online surveys?
Online surveys are a way for market researchers to conduct polls and questionnaires on behalf of corporations, non-profit organizations and government. Market researchers are hired by these organizations to survey their target audience so that they may better serve them. By taking online surveys you are in fact shaping the products and services of tomorrow.
How can I participate in online surveys?
First you need to become a member of survey company. To do this, visit our surveys list and click on any of the companies you see listed there (Toluna, MyView, Valued Opinions, etc.) You will then be brought to a registration page which will ask you to some personal questions in order for you to be added to the survey panel. Once you complete the registration process, you will be sent an email to confirm your registration. Click on the link in the email and you are now a confirmed member of an online survey company.
When the survey company has a survey for you to complete, they will email it to you. Simply click on the link within the survey and you will be brought to the study. Follow the instructions to complete the survey. Once you are finished, you should be eligible to collect a reward for completing the survey. The reward will be listed in the survey email invitation itself.
How often will I be able to complete surveys?
The more survey companies you become a member of, the better your chances of being invited to complete online surveys. It is simple math. Register with one survey company and you will only receive surveys from them. Register with ten different companies and suddenly you will be eligible to complete a lot more surveys.
There is no way of knowing exactly how many times a month you will be contacted to complete surveys. It depends on how many surveys the market research company has available to take, how quickly the surveys available are being completed (each study has a quota on the number of survey takers available to take the study) as well as how many times your demographic data actually qualifies you to complete surveys in the first place.
When I’m e-mailed an online survey, do I have to take it? Is it mandatory?
In short, no. If you’re not interested in completing a survey, you don’t have to take it. However some panels do require that you take a set amount of surveys per year to remain an active member of their survey panel. This number is typically very low and is easily achievable.
What do I get for taking surveys?
The rewards for taking surveys range anywhere from cold hard cash, to gift vouchers, to entries into prize draws, to merchandise. When you are emailed a survey to complete, the incentive for taking the survey will be listed there.
Is this really FREE? If so, how can that be?
Yes, becoming a member of a legitimate survey company is free – there is zero cost to you. Why? Think about it. Survey companies are hired by other organizations to survey a group of people. The only way they can do this is if they have a database of people (a survey panel) to send the survey to to begin with. So why would they get their members to pay to join their panel? They want as many people as possible joining their survey panel and they make it easy to do so.
When they are hired to conduct a survey, they offer their members some sort of incentive for participating in the study. If they didn’t, nobody would take it. Knowing this and recognizing that people’s time is valuable, they offer rewards to their members for completing the surveys they offer.
Can participate in online surveys?
Yes, as long as they are over the age of 13 and have parental consent. Everyone 18+ is free to join any and all survey panels listed on our website. Here is a special list of Australian teen surveys for those under the age of majority.
Can I making a living taking online surveys?
No. Online survey taking is not a full time or even a part time job, and should therefore be treated as such. Survey taking is a great way to make a few extra dollars and to earn gift vouchers towards retailers who you shop at anyway, but if you’re planning on making a living from answering questions all day, you had better re-evaluate this decision. By taking the time to answer questions about products and services, you are shaping the future of the environment around you – there is a lot of value in this. However taking surveys strictly for employment is a bit counter intuitive to this and is also unrealistic.
